Product Description This Wifi b/g wireless moonlight night vision IP camera has its own built in web server. You can view the video from your own local area network or you can configure your router to view and control the camera from computers or cellphones on the internet, without dependence on any third party web sites or subscriptions. With the built-in microphone you can listen in. Excellent MPEG4 video quality at a full 640 x 480 resolution with up to 30 frames per second for fluid, natural motion color. For viewing or recording a single camera no software is required besides just your browser. For viewing or recording multiple Sharx IP cameras the included MultiView software supports up to 4 Sharx IP cameras simultaneously.
Truly amazing to see the streaming video on your web enabled cell phone. For frequent use we recommend to upgrade your cellphone service to unlimited data, which costs just $15/mo extra on the ATT network. You can see motion even on non-3G phones like SonyEricsson w580i. If your phone does not support video you can see automatically refreshing JPEG images. At home, you can use this camera with your laptop or iPhone as a baby or pet monitor, and the very high light sensitivity in "moonlight mode" allows you to view out from a window to see what's happening in the street as long as there is some background light available. For night vision in absolute, total darkness with no visible light, upgrade to SCNC2607 which adds infrared night vision and a higher quality, wide angle lens. If you need bi-directional audio to talk back in addition to listening, consider the SCNC2601 and SCNC2602W models. Wireless operation supports WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption.

extremely simple to setup using windows / mac March 6, 2010 MB (Chicago, IL) I bought this camera based on a little research and am using it primarily with a MAC and some software for home security. The camera was very simple to setup and I have to say, the instructions that came with it, have to be some of the best instructions and simple to follow that I've ever seen. I setup the camera using an attached ethernet cable first, but I use it completely wireless now. I've learned over the years, some of these standalone wireless devices are just easier to setup with an attached connection first then trying to setup wireless from the get go.
now, why 4 stars and not 5. Well, in G mode it is a little grainy and people walking in front of the camera I have to wonder how clear a shot I would get of someone's face, I have it too far away to really get that, but I wanted to cover a large area of the house. Also, this camera needs light. There is no good shot with the lights off at night, might as well be looking at a black room, I was surprised visibility was this poor, but I think all these cameras will only be able to do that much. If you really want night vision, you have to get the infrared version.
Amazing value, quality, and accessibility February 22, 2010 The Oracle (pasadena, ca) I have to say, you really won't understand how great this camera is unless you try other ones. First off - this camera is 640x480! There's one I saw her called "DropCam" that seemed cool. But it's a 320x240 resolution camera AND you may have to pay per month! I looked through a lot of IP cameras before deciding on this one. Even though I've not owned other IP cameras, you can tell this is the best one just by researching. I've not needed support but they seem to be responsive.
This camera puts out 680x480 resolution. Amazing quality! I love that I can access on my laptop remotely through a web address (for free) and through my Palm Pre, or any other mobile phone with a good data plan. One small gripe is that I can't get anything higher than a 176x144 resolution for your phone, but it's no biggie. You can still see a great picture/video.
Setup was easy. Plug your camera into your router via ethernet cable. Enter the IP address (determined by router) and enter admin for user and admin for password and you're in. Change whatever settings you need but make sure you connect to your wireless network under "wireless." Let it search and enter the password and you're up and running. (Follow instructions if any issues). I got it up and running in 5 minutes.
Even though it's an indoor camera I have it hanging outdoors under my roof to watch my driveway since we think people might be walking through to get to our backyard.
Lastly, did I mention there's audio?! Many other wireless IP cams don't even offer this. You can adjust the volume remotely if you want to. All settings are adjustable from wherever you are. PLUS - all 2010 models now have a SD card option that will auto-record via motion detection and you can access controls/media remotely (i think you can delete content, etc all remotely so you don't need to pull out the card to do so). Amazing.
I'm really glad I got this camera. It has great picture quality, many web features, and all at an amazing price. I got it via Ebay through Secure Camera direct (although you can't tell it's them) and used Bing Cashback for 8%+ off depending on the special. It's $229.xx minus cashback and then free shipping (no tax). Awesome!

I just had a support call because I wanted to see if I could get higher resolution on my Palm Pre. They helped me to connect to another link where I was able to get 320 x 240 resolution on my phone. It was so much clearer. Love it. They also said they would give me an outdoor version of this camera for the same price if I wanted it (it was just released) or if this camera ever messed up b/c I have it outdoors, they'd replace it for me with the outdoor version. Awesome!
Good luck setting it up February 8, 2010 Born to Shop 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this camera last year and had to spend an hour and a half on the phone with customer support in order to get the thing set up. At the time they blamed the router I was using...apparently that particular darned router causes lots of problems. Fast forward a few months. I'm setting the camera up in a new house with a completely different kind of router. Wouldn't you know, it's impossible again...and once again customer support blames the router.
There's no way to call customer support. You have to email them and wait for them to email you back. Then, after several dozen emails, where it's clear they're not paying attention to what you've told them (they keep suggesting this or that may be the problem although you've explained ad nauseum that this or that is NOT the problem) they'll offer to set up a telephone appointment. Then you have to sit and wait for them to call you. They're nice and helpful during the long, long telephone call that finally gets the thing working, but really, do you want to spend this much time setting something up?
More features than I would have ever expected! January 27, 2010 Malizzle "Don't judge a book by it's cover" was never more true in this case. I wanted a camera of higher quality than your typical web-cam, so while I was scrolling through the results of "wireless cam" I initially missed this one due to it's visual similarity to webcams. But then I saw how highly it was rated and decided to try it. After owning the cam for over a month, I could _not_ be more impressed! It has all the features I was looking for and then some. Most importantly, onboard continuous loop recording to a SD card (or to remote servers), uploading of images to a remote server when motion is detected, and password protected web access (both through [...] or through active streaming using a viewer such as VLC).
The other reviews have covered most things that can be said, so I'll only try to fill in a few more blanks. The quality of the picture is excellent for the price. However, the moonlight mode does (understandably) drop the fps, yet unfortunately it still didn't quite have the sensitivity I had hoped for. There is a street light outside of my home, and although I can see fine with my eyes, the picture is completely dark even in moonlight mode. That's not too much of a problem though since the night-vision version is more appropriate for that use anyway.
Here's a quick run-down of all the settings available, since I don't think they are documented very well in the detailed specs:

Although it's true as others have mentioned that there's no phone number for customer service, only email, they are incredibly responsive, and they truly know the product. You can expect a rapid reply that truly addresses your issue and not just canned unintelligent replies. If you buy this cam, be sure to contact them immediately, as they will download new firmware to your camera that fixes bugs and adds new features. This should be done right off the bat since the firmware overwrites your settings.
For the money, I don't think you can go wrong with this wireless camera!
good camera, excellent customer service January 24, 2010 Sean Kay (Maryland) At first when I received my camera, I had a bit of trouble setting it up. I was frustrated to find that there was no contact number for customer service, instead you had to email them. So we emailed back and forth a few times until I asked to be called, and within 30 minutes, someone called and walked me through the setup. Since then, I had a few more questions, and while its frustrating to email instead of call, they replied back within minutes every time. I am blown away by how responsive and helpful their customer service is.
One thing which I did not see in the description is that when moonlight mode is on, the frames per second drop from 30 to 7.5
We use the camera as a monitor for our baby, and it works great, but at night, the adjacent bathroom light must be on with the door partially cracked to allow enough light for moonlight mode to work (a nightlight won't be enough).
We will likely switch to the higher model for the infrared nightvision. Overall though, it is a great camera and again, I cannot praise the customer service enough. Would highly recommend this product.
